It's well known I love futbol de americano for my latin/hispanic cats or felines I know. I could watch football all day long in between showers and food re-ups. However, I kinda fell upon my the sport that I'm in love with and have loved sense I was 14. Track and Field!
Track was my girl in high school. She was good to me and even rewarded with higher education and propz that I never imagined. I ran track initially to get faster for football. Well, I wasn't growing fast enough for my Barry Sanders like dreams and my football career ended fast and abruptly to my sad demise. However, a great man saw a bit of potential in me and the rest was history. I wasn't overwhelming good but I had some pretty good performances.
Hmm Marion Jones......My coach always said sprinters did suddenly become dominant. It was a gradual build up. Simply put Marion wasn't overwhelming anyone early on. Then she exploded into this superstar. She was too powerful it seemed and he and I would wonder sometimes about her performances.
Then it all started happening. A plethora of big name sprinters were going down in droves. Marion's former husband even dropped dime on her and no one believed him. They chalked it up to a bitter divorce and scorn. Nope, he was did on.
Track is the ultimate individual sport. Your natural ability against another human's natural ability. Equipment has very little to do with your performance and teammates have no direct effect on how fast you run or how far. Relays are only times another person effects your performance. Even so the exchange has to be severely handled that it effects your outcome.
Now no one believes in the US's dominance in sprints anymore. They all seem suspect to the world now. Our distance runners have never been dominate in the last 25 years. So now we will simply look average and like a bunch of non-factors like how Germans and Russians reps were tainted for years. I guess we will wait it out and try to restore the feeling.
